The Role

We are seeking a passionate AI Researcher (Governance) to join us in advancing research at the frontier of responsible AI, alignment, and safety.

What You'll Do

• Conduct research in AI safety, ethics, alignment, fairness, and responsible AI frameworks.
• Investigate risks and safeguards in areas like large language models, multilingual AI, and autonomous systems.
• Contribute to the development of responsible AI guidelines, model evaluation frameworks, and policy-driven insights.
• Collaborate with Nexenda’s research and product teams to embed ethical considerations into AI design.
• Publish open research papers and contribute to Africa’s voice in the global AI safety conversation.
• Explore interdisciplinary perspectives (philosophy, policy, human rights, cultural context) to strengthen responsible AI research.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong background in AI/ML with a focus on ethics, safety, or responsible AI.
• Knowledge of AI alignment challenges, fairness, bias mitigation, and ethical frameworks.
